So the new NBA salary cap and TV deal have given the players a little bit more spending money to interior decorate their mansions with this year.

O.K., that was a severe understatement. The 2016 NBA Free Agency literally has even the bench players only identifiable by Google getting a Powerball-like payday for just for a couple of years on a team. Although he’s far from a bum, Mike Conley has never played in an All-Star game but the Memphis Grizzlies awarded him the richest contract in NBA history, putting him in the same sentence of Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant by becoming just the third player to earn more than $30 million dollars in a single season.

CBS Sports’ Ken Berger broke it down in Layman’s terms, stating “It’s essentially a 50-50 split among players and owners. This coming season marks the first year of the league’s nine-year, $24 billion TV deal with ABC/ESPN and Turner. Silver, his predecessor David Stern and the former executive director of the players’ association, Billy Hunter, did not anticipate such a massive increase — from an average of $930 million a year in TV revenue to $2.67 billion” while noting next season may see a “projected $110 million” increase.
