Sometimes Hip Hop can move at a pace too frantic for even the most devoted fan to keep up with. Albums and mixtapes are released at breakneck speed, careers are made and broken with the swipe of a pen, and somewhere in between all the madness actual music (the quality of which vacillates between excellent and god awful) is being made. Twitter provides a nice summary of everything 140 characters at a time. And if you’re the type that would rather not be bothered with stepping into the Twitterverse to catch up on the latest in Hip Hop, we’ve filtered through the top rapper’s tweets and consolidated all the week’s events into one convenient feed.

This week, Kanye West headlines Summer X Games, ScHoolboy Q shows love to the ladies who love his “Studio” track and Questlove sends get well wishes to Tracy Morgan.

Who Wore It Best: Rihanna & Peter Griffin Edition

Rihanna is never one to hold back her tongue. When people began to criticize her for the see-through crystal-encrusted dress she wore on the CFDA Awards red carpet, she bit back by poking fun at herself. TBS tweeted a picture of Peter Griffin from Family Guy wearing an identical outfit to her body-baring gown and Rih loved it. She shared the picture of Griffin, side by side to her picture from the red carpet, and wrote, “He gets it!” The 26-year-old singer accepted the award for “Fashion Icon Of The Year” that night and her controversial gown is proof that she isn’t afraid to take risks. A little (a lot of) nipple never hurt nobody. Sidenote: Rihanna’s Twitter feud with TLC over their comments on her sparkly nude look is pretty hilarious.

Ja Rule Responds To 50 Cent’s Summer Jam Diss

Not everyone was pleased with G-Unit’s return. During the group’s reunion performance, 50 Cent decided to perform “I Smell Pussy,” a Beg For Mercy track notoriously known to diss Ja Rule and his former Murder Inc. (note: they celebrated their 15 year aninversary on June 1) labelmates. Ja Rule shared his feelings via Twitter, appropriately using the hashtag “#SummerJam14” and adding 50 Cent’s Twitter handle to his tweet. No hiding here. Ja thanked 50 for “shoutout” and mentioned that the emcee was “#hustlingbackwards.” 50 and Ja Rule’s beef has been ongoing since 2000 and was reportedly over in 2011. No word on if the beef is back or still going but since the early 2000s is coming back in style, why not bring it back for old time’s sake?

Chris Brown’s First Out Of Jail Tweet

After serving 108 days (which is alot in Hollywood time), Chris Brown is officially released from jail. It’s interesting to see what the first post-jail tweet will be because you would only imagine all the pressure that comes with a first “I’m back” tweet. Breezy kept it short and sweet with “Humbled and Blessed.” Assuming that his management took over Twitter duties while he was locked up, his account was active throughout the 108 days but the tweets were never personal. Brown was thrown in jail because a judge ruled that he violated his probation in the Rihanna case. Brown may be free but not off the judicial hook for he has an upcoming assault trial from a Washington D.C. altercation that should take place within months.

LeBron James Should Take Notes From Action Bronson

During the first playoff game of the NBA Finals, Miami Heat player LeBron James was taken off the court due to cramps. The air conditioning inside the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas broke on Thursday causing fans to sit and players to play ball in over 90 degree weather. James’ cramp struck during the 4th quarter. He was quickly taken off the court and sat out for the rest of the game to watch the Heat lose to the San Antonio Spurs. Despite the legitimacy of the cramp, James has been turned into a meme and been clowned on since Thursday’s game. Even Action Bronson joined in on the fun, saying that he wouldn’t “cramp up in hot weather” and that he doesn’t “break under pressure.” Bronson happened to be in Houston, Texas performing through 100 degree weather. No cramps here.

Pretty Hurts, ScHoolboy Q

Out of TDE, ScHoolboy Q is the most active on Twitter. He’s not only active, he’s brutally honest, hilarious and loves to interact with fans. His timeline is filled with random thoughts and self-deprecating comments that turn out to be endearing. In one of his latest Twitter highlights for the week, Q is talking to the ladies that sing along to his latest single, “Studio,” without knowing how he looks like. Apparently, many are in for a surprise. It’s true. The ladies do love his Oxymoron single, “Studio.” Rihanna was spotted quoting the song’s hook in a tweet this week.

Wiz Khalifa, The Internet Millionaire

It’s a known fact that rappers of this generation rely heavily on the use of the internet to promote their music and themselves. Gone are the days when artists only relied on major labels to carry them through press runs, etc. With that being said, Wiz Khalifa’s “I made a million on the internet” tweet is possibly entirely true. In Wiz’s 2001 hit, “Black And Yellow,” he says “Just made a million, got another million on my schedule.” Whether if it’s entirely from the internet is hard to measure but it’s 100% safe to say that it stemmed from the internet. Feel free to stop me from over-analyzing six words at any time.

Murder Inc. Celebrates 15 Year Anniversary

On June 1, Irv Gotti and Ja Rule celebrated the quinceañera (15th birthday) of their baby, Murder Inc. Records. In a lengthy caption, Irv Gotti shared that the date also doubled as the release date for Ja Rule’s debut album, Venni Vetti Vecci. “[We] went on to give hits to other artists with our SOUND. [We] went on to break other artists with our SOUND. Now I know people may think a lot of different things about me and Ja and MURDER INC. But really. What we have done in this game. Cannot be disputed.” Murder Inc.’s roster included Ja Rule, Ashanti and Lloyd, among others. Fun fact: Vanessa Carlton (“A Thousand Miles”) was signed to the label at one point.
