Sometimes Hip Hop can move at a pace too frantic for even the most devoted fan to keep up with. Albums and mixtapes are released at breakneck speed, careers are made and broken with the swipe of a pen, and somewhere in between all the madness actual music (the quality of which vacillates between excellent and god awful) is being made. Twitter provides a nice summary of everything 140 characters at a time. And if you’re the type that would rather not be bothered with stepping into the Twitterverse to catch up on the latest in Hip Hop, we’ve filtered through the top rapper’s tweets and consolidated all the week’s events into one convenient feed.

This week, Nicki Minaj and Meek Mill experience earthquakes, ScHoolboy Q shares an oldie-but-goodie picture, and Snoop Dogg bids his final farewell to a close relative. Check the rest of the week’s top tweets below.

Since its release in 1996, Xzibit’s “Paparazzi” stands as a testament to B-Boy dedication. X to the Z calls out fake gangsters and questions those in the Rap game “only for the fortune and the fame.” But was he talking about anyone in particular—specifically Tupac Shakur. It’s a surprisingly valid question given that E.D.I. Mean referenced “Paparazzi” on Tupac’s “Bomb First,” asking, “Got a little question for that nigga that made Paparazzi / If you ain’t in this rap game for the motherfucking cash, mane / Then what is your motherfucking purpose?” During an impromptu, Twitter “ask me anything” session with his followers, X shut down any notions about directing “Paparrazi” at ‘Pac. “No. Never heard that one, but no,” Xzibit tweeted. Case closed.

Residents of Los Angeles County felt the effects of a 4.4 magnitude earthquake on March 17 at approximately 6:25 am. While seismologists referred to the tremor as “typical,” Compton, California native and Def Jam recording artist YG had another explanation.

“That earthquake happened kuz #myKRAZYlife bout to drop,” YG tweeted. “Shake the world up.” While there’s zero chance YG had any impact on the San Andreas Fault Line, he’ll most likely have an impact on Nielsen’s weekly SoundScan report. According to HitsDailyDouble, YGs My Krazy Life is expected to sell approximately 60,000 copies of his debut album. Such a tally would land him a top five debut.

If it seemed Cee Lo and Danger Mouse made for a weird tandem, just imagine how many heads will turn when Cee Lo hits the road with Lionel Richie. On Wednesday, March 19, Cee Lo took to Twitter (and YouTube) to announce he and Richie would “make history” with a Live Nation-backed “All The Hits All Night Long” tour. Aside from rising to prominence as members of soulful Southern groups—Richie was a member of The Commodores, and Cee Lo is a member of Goodie Mob—what do these two have in common? Perhaps that’s a question that can only be answered by copping a ticket to one of the pair’s 41 dates spanning across the US and Canada.

Nicki Minaj Experiences Her First “Big” Earthquake

Though earthquakes may seem like no big deal to Los Angeles natives, it’s a huge deal to everyone else who isn’t used to the ground shaking. Early Monday morning, the Los Angeles shook at a 4.4 magnitude and even if you didn’t feel the quake, Twitter reminded you of what you missed out on. One of the tweeters included Nicki Minaj, who described the tremor as the “scariest earthquake” and “unbelievable.” It must have not been a fun alarm clock to wake up to.

Meek Mill Feels First Earthquake While Recording New Music

The image of Meek Mill hopping out of the booth in mid rap is hilarious. Once again, another rapper is shook up (no pun intended) by the earth’s natural rumble. The 4.4 magnitude might not sound big to those who reside in earthquake territory but factor in the early morning 6 am call time and you’ll see why anyone would jet out of a booth to duck and cover for safety.

Murs Rides For Clippers’ Forward Blake Griffin

As of Friday, March 21, the Los Angeles Clippers sport a 48-21 record. As the team prepares for the NBA playoffs, Griffin finds himself continually involved in skirmishes with opposing players. Apparently L.A. native Murs has had enough. After forward appeared to throw a punch at Griffin during a recent game between the Clippers and the Phoenix Suns, Murs aired his feelings out via Twitter.

“I’m taking all fades for @blakegriffin32,” Murs tweeted, before adding a 316Mafia hashtag. “I’m tired of this sh*t! #3strikes.” The playoffs are roughly a month away. The playoffs are roughly a month away. With Griffin’s tendency to posterize opponents, the potential MVP candidate may want to shoot Murs a direct message to call in that favor. He’s going to be a marked man.
