No one has been sampled in Hip Hop as much as the Godfather of Soul, James Brown. This bassline was a favorite for producers in 1991 (I’m sure others not listed here sampled it as well). For me, this is a two horse race between Southside Queens’ finest and the D.I.T.C. representatives. “Fudge Pudge” and “Soul Clap” are my favorite songs from the respective groups, it is too close to call. I’ll definitely give Showbiz the edge on the production tip, but Pharoahe, Po and O.C. easily better A.G. and Diamond D. Call this one a wash. The bassline doesn’t appear until 7:22 in the source track, for those who want to check it out. Let us know below who your pick is.
